Review - kayakers' guide to Brittany

Brittany kayaking guide

"Sea Kayaking Guide : Brittany - 60 Paddles"

Véronique Olivier and Guy Lecointre have written an excellent guidebook which is indispensable for anybody who wants to get the best from sea kayaking in Brittany.

And now it's available in English. The Brittany guide first came out in 2012, as a thick and glossy colour paperback with lots of maps and glorious colour photos, from specialist publishers Le Canotier. It proved so popular that in 2013 Le Canotier followed it up with an English edition.

The guide describes 60 classic kayak trips, some round the coast of Brittany, some in estuaries and others out to islands. Some are daytrips, some are overnight and each trip is given a star rating for difficulty.

The text gives a real feeling for each paddle, with everything from details on car parking to interesting background about what you'll find on land and at sea including wildlife and things to eat. The guide also covers rules and regulations for paddling and overnight camping.
